Editorial policy
This policy explains where our facts come from, what we refuse to publish and how a mistake gets fixed.
Sources
We use the published restaurant list for addresses, phone numbers and format, local news reports for opening stories, and a compiled menu for prices. When a source is a news article we name it on the page.
Where we cannot confirm something, such as a happy hour or whether a newer listing has opened, we say so. See the happy hour page for an example.
Accuracy and updates
Each page shows a last-updated date. Prices and hours change, so we mark them as estimates and ask readers to confirm with the restaurant. Pages for newer listings state that they have no phone number on our list.
We do not accept payment for placement, and we do not publish user reviews.
Corrections
Send corrections to [email protected] through the contact page. We update the page and the date. The author is Philipp Chaykin.
What we publish and what we leave out
We publish addresses, phone numbers, hours, price ranges and context from local news. We leave out anything we cannot back up, including unconfirmed happy hours, unconfirmed opening dates and rumors about new locations.
When we use a news report, such as the NJBIZ coverage of the New Jersey openings or the Richmond BizSense story on Willow Lawn, we say which one and what it said.
How prices are presented
Prices are shown as ranges because they vary by state and by ordering channel. We use the low end of each range for the sample orders, and we say so. Totals exclude tax and tip.
Independence
We are not paid by the restaurant and carry no advertising on these pages. If that changes, we will say so on the page. See the disclaimer and the about page.
